The Nur madrassah is a classroom and online education provider, specialising in Quranic recitation and Islamic studies.
The name "Nur/نور", literally meaning "light", is inspired by the famous quranic verse 24:35, which has been understood as a metaphor calling humanity toward the light of Allah, through worship and recitation ('نور على نور').
Our mission is to provide greater access to this "light" of the Quran, especially for younger Muslims - across a range of learning styles, academic abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds (all pricing at Nur is flexible, with some students eligible for free).
"With a background in primary and secondary school tuition, as well as qualifications (ijaazah) in quranic recitation, I decided to combine several areas of my knowledge - and create Nur.
Having studied the Qur'an under shuyukh at-tilawah from Al-Azhar in Cairo, I began teaching friends and family who were looking for comprehensive yet child-friendly quranic learning. While doing so, I realised a severe need for a revitalised learning experience for today's Muslim children.
And so, I launched Nur to be that space - where students look forward to learning, and benefit from a madrassah experience that is both productive and enjoyable!
If you're reading this, I hope we can help you or someone you know to begin a rewarding quranic journey, inshallah." - Yousuf Zubair, Founder & Head
